This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (from Feb 12) follows:

The Poco X2 isn’t quite the successor that Poco F1 owners would have wanted. Matter of fact, it shouldn’t even be considered the natural heir to the F1 throne especially now that the Xiaomi spinoff is just getting started.

Unveiled a week ago, the Poco X2 started selling earlier this week priced at INR 15,999 for the base model of 6/64GB. If this isn’t enough, an extra INR 1,000 should get you twice the base storage and for the high-end 8/256GB variant, you get to part with INR 19,999.

To recall, the first smartphone under the new and independent Poco brand ships with a Snapdragon 730G chipset, one of the best midrange SoCs around today. It packs an expansive 6.67″ FHD+ 120Hz LCD panel and keeping it alive is a solid 4,500 mAh battery.

The main camera has a quad-lens setup featuring a 64MP main shooter, an 8MP ultrawide sensor and a pair of 2MP macro and depth-sensing units. The front has a dual-lens shooter with 20MP and 2MP units.

Software-wise, which is where this story touches most, the device runs on MIUI 11 based on Android 10 out of the box. The pre-installed version is MIUI 11.0.3.0.QGHINXM, but as of this writing, the first Poco X2 update is now available to download over the air.

Arriving as V11.0.4.0.QGHINXM, the Poco X2 update brings a couple of camera improvements that include fixing the bug where the camera app crashes when in PRO mode as well as improved image processing in certain scenarios.

The update also installs a new Android security patch for the month of January 2020, which, BTW, isn’t the latest available. Below is a summary of the changes the first Poco X2 update brings.

System
– Updated Android Security Patch to January 2020. Increased system security.
Camera
– Optimization: Image processing in several scenarios
– Fix: The app crashed in PRO mode
Settings
– New: Device categories with Mi Link support

As noted, the update is arriving over the air and as usual, OTA updates may take days to arrive on all units. Rather than wait, we have the Recovery file below for manual installation.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
