Original story (published on January 23, 2020) follows:

It seems the second-generation Samsung Galaxy Fold will be sold as the Galaxy Z Flip, at least if the latest certification in Indonesia is anything to go by.

Several details of the Galaxy Fold 2 have been floating the interwebs over the past weeks. We know that Samsung has plans to unveil the next foldable smartphone at a special event ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020 show next month.

At the tail end of last year, we also reported about what was claimed to be a representation of how the next Galaxy Fold will look like when it arrives. A week later, a concept video popped up showing us a lot more of what to expect.

But it is only now that we are getting what seems to be more concrete evidence that indeed Samsung is getting a second-gen foldable smartphone ready for the market. However, what is turning out to be strange is the naming scheme.

Instead of the much-anticipated Galaxy Fold 2, Samsung may launch the foldable smartphone as the Galaxy Z Flip. This is after a device with model number SM-F700F, the same model that went through China’s 3C, was certified in Indonesia as the Z Flip.

It’s not the first time that the name Galaxy Z Flip is popping up online. Popular tipster Ice Universe recently brought up this name on Twitter, but now we have official confirmation that it indeed exists.
