The fan-favorite DigiDestined, Taichi and his friends, will be back with a new Digimon Adventure TV anime reboot. The said reboot will air in Japan beginning April 2020, just two months following the release of the franchise’s latest full-length film, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna.

While the upcoming film will focus on the more adult stages of Taichi and his friends, the new Digimon Adventure series will be taking us back to Taichi’s 5th grade days. The reboot was announced in the March issue of Shueisha V Jump magazine. It will be taking the Sunday 9 AM timeslot on FujiTV in Japan.

The story will focus on a 5th grader Taichi Yagami with a timeline following the present. An official teaser trailer was posted by Toei on Youtube. Here is a translated synopsis posted on the official website of Digimon.

Latest Digimon movie review

The latest movie of the franchise is titled Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna. It will be a sequel to Digimon Adventure tri, following the movie of the original Digimon Adventure series.

The movie is produced as part of the year-long 20th anniversary of the Digimon franchise. The film is set five years after Digimon Adventure tri, taking place in 2010. With Taichi and his friends reaching adulthood, they are struck with the news that the partnership with their Digimon will soon end, as they are not children anymore.

Meanwhile, a powerful Digimon called Eosmon appears, robbing other DigiDestined of their consciousness, and it’s up to Taichi, Agumon and all their friends to fight together one last time to save the world. This means that the new animated series to air in April may be an alternate universe taking place in 2020.

The original Digimon Adventure is the first season of the anime saga Digimon: Digital Monsters. It aired 54 episodes on Fuji TV in Japan from March 7, 1999, to March 26, 2000. In the United States, it aired on Fox Kids from August 14, 1999, to June 24, 2000.

I read manga or watch anime every chance I have. I started reading manga just a few years back and I was hooked the first day. I usually follow fan pages and am consistently given a Top Fan Badge. I also love baking and cake decorating and trying to make anime-themed cake designs.
