New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 9, 2020) follows:

Ever since Motorola was taken over from Google by Lenovo back in 2014, it has all been a mixed bag, to say the very least.

There is no doubt this change of ownership did nothing to stray Motorola from making some of the best budget phones like the Moto G8 Plus, but over time, the company keeps lagging behind when it comes to delivering speedy Android updates.

To date, Motorola has managed to upgrade only three of its devices to the latest Android 10 OS. Matter of fact, the devices in question are all part of Android One and going by the program’s standards, the OS still delayed to roll out.

It started with the Moto One Power and then came the Moto One Vision. More recently, the Moto One Action received the update as well and in fact, folks in Brazil seem to have had access to the Moto G7 Plus Android 10 update for a while now.

From the look of things, the incoming Moto G7 Plus Android 10 update isn’t the first build the device is receiving in Brazil. Apparently, the initial version arrived as build number QPW30.61-5 and bundled the November 2019 security patch.

As of this writing, those who already had the first Android 10 build on the Moto G7 Plus are now receiving another update as version QPW30.61-21, this time with a newer December 2019 security patch.

As it stands, this is just another beta update (soak test) for the G7 Plus and not the stable version, although it’s an early sign that the final build isn’t too far away.

The best part of all this, though, is that we have the download link for the latest Moto G7 Plus Android 10 beta update. You can try it ahead of official rollout, but be warned that bugs are usually part of such unfinished products.

Tech has been my playground for over a decade. While the Android journey began early, it truly took flight with the revolutionary Lollipop update. Since then, it's been a parade of Android devices (with a sprinkle of iOS), culminating in a mostly happy marriage with Google's smart home ecosystem. Expect insightful articles and explorations of the ever-evolving world of Android and Google products coupled with occasional rants on the Nest smart home ecosystem.
