[Update live] Samsung Galaxy S9 & A80 running One UI 2.0 (Android 10) grab Wi-Fi Alliance certification

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 3, 2020) follows:

Samsung has clearly changed the way it used to handle updates for its devices. Come the year 2019, the Korean OEM started rolling out timely updates and also expanded its range to more number of devices, including the older ones as well.

Besides, there is a long list of Samsung devices that are compatible to receive the latest Android 10 update with One UI 2.0 on top. Since it has been pushed to a limited number of devices, the coming months are going to be pretty busy for the OEM.

Two devices that are due to get the Android 10 updates are the last year’s Galaxy A80 and Galaxy S9. In fact, both the devices have been included in the Android 10 update roadmap which you can check out below.

Though Galaxy S9 has been served with a number of Android 10 betas across the globe, Galaxy A80 is yet to receive one from Samsung. But, in a recent development, both the Galaxy S9 & Galaxy A80 have received vital Wi-Fi Alliance certification.

What’s more interesting is that according to SamMobile, both the devices grabbed this certification with Android 10 onboard. Note that this certification itself does not mean that the devices will pick up Android 10 updates in the near future.

It merely depicts that Samsung has made some progress in that front for both the devices especially the Galaxy A80 which has not yet received an Android 10 beta update.

As for Galaxy S9 is concerned, both U (carrier) & U1 (unlocked) Snapdragon models are listed in the certifications. You can check out the screenshot below:

Matter of fact, Samsung Galaxy S9 US unlocked variant is a part of the One UI 2.0 beta program whereas users of the Galaxy A80 have not experienced the One UI 2.0 thus far.

As mentioned above, Samsung will shift gears in the coming weeks and is expected to push the Android 10 updates to more number of devices.

      Update (March 13)

The One UI 2.0 (Android 10) update has arrived for the users of Galaxy A80. Read the whole story here.
