The timely rollout of the updates used to be a USP of Google’s own devices. Later on, all other OEMs started to understand the importance of regular updates and joined the bandwagon.

The importance of a security update for a smartphone is no surprise as it fixes severe vulnerabilities. Major smartphone brands like Samsung, which were earlier mocked for pushing late or no updates have also improved a lot in this department.
