When it comes to pushing out security updates for both new and old smartphones, Nokia is on top of this list. Not only this, the brand has kept up to this reputation and continuously improving in this front.

Besides, if you are the owner of the Nokia 2 smartphone then this piece of news might excite you as in a recent development, Nokia has brought in a bunch of new updates for the device.

Interestingly, there are two software update channels for this phone, i.e. Android Nougat and an optional Oreo build. Nokia removed the latter a while ago, probably due to potential performance issues.

Well, the Nougat running units are getting the November 2019 security patchset. Moreover, there is also a new Android 8.1 update with the same patch as well. However, keep in mind that this Android Oreo update is totally optional.

Talking about some specs, the Nokia 2 was launched back in 2017 and is powered by a budget Snapdragon 212 chipset, a 4,100 mAh battery, a 5-inch display, 1 GB of RAM with 8 GB of onboard of internal storage.

In the camera department, it sports an 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP selfie camera. Moreover, Nokia 2 also comes with a dedicated microSD card slot.

Now coming back to the updates, the Nougat-based November 2019 security update is arriving with version number V0.68R and weighs in a mere 95.22 MB in size.

However, the Oreo-based November update comes with version number 1.16K is quite hefty in size at 1.33 GB and though it might look like a normal security patch, the build will itself change to 1.15R_SP08, as reported by one of the users.

However, the new Oreo 8.1 update comes with some issues that were pointed out by one of the users:

  • Google Assistant Go Still can’t be installed
  • Google App still doesn’t support
  • In Camera App,Video shoot takes on Low Light even when flash is enabled
  • Keyboard Pop Up issue still there when using YouTube and other social media apps
  • No New VoLTE icon introduced
  • Android Recovery Mode-Wipe Data/Factory Reset Still Not functioning well
  • Power Saver App is still not optimizing the battery
  • Even Well apps are still available

Moreover, if you want still want to go ahead and install the latest Android Oreo 8.1 update for your Nokia 2 then, you can head to the official Nokia 2 upgrade website and sign up for the update. Later after request, you need to go to device settings>about>system update>check for update.

In fact, the November 2019 security patchset for either of the Nougat-based or Oreo-based Nokia 2 will hit the device via OTA in batches. However, you can head to the below section to download the update package file for manual installation:
