Samsun Galaxy A50 is sold in various countries across the globe. Depending on where you buy one, you may get the A50 with any of model numbers SM-A505F, SM-A505FM, SM-A505FN, SM-A505G, SM-A505GN, SM-A505GT, SM-A505N, SM-A505W, SM-A505U, or SM-A505YN.

The basic specs sheet remains unchanged regardless of the variations in the model numbers, but due to this small difference, the time the various Galaxy A50 variants receive software updates varies greatly.

In some cases, the changes in the software vary depending on the model number of the A50 in question, which basically implies that sometimes the changes sent to the Indian variant won’t necessarily be the same as those sent to the Canadian variant, for instance.

Case in point is whereas the Galaxy A50 with model number SM-A505FN is now receiving October 2019 security patch, folks using the same device but with model number SM-A505F can only make do with the August security update.

On the other hand, model SM-A505G is receiving September security patches. All this is happening in different countries where the Galaxy A50 is sold. For folks in India where the device has model SM-A505F, the latest update brings August security patch, improved network and call stability.

The Indian August update comes on the back of numerous complaints regarding the Galaxy A50 network issues in the country. Reports dating back to April 2019 have been doing rounds in the Samsung Community and apparently, the August patch is meant to address these network issues.

Im using jio sim on 1st slot. While using the phone on strong signal area it is fine but on low signal area the phone becomes horrible. No signal everytime and internet, youtube doesnot run. But using the same sim on same place with oher phone is flawless. It was with my previous m20 and now on a50. But i want to use samsung branding. So cant we expect a good signal reception from samsung?

But it seems it’s not just in India where the Galaxy A50 network issues are being experienced, but also in other regions as well.

I’m in Indonesia, i bought this phone a week ago. And i have the same problem. I’ll never have an issue about signal on my last phone, but with this phone the signal is so low and poor! Please samsung help us

Hi i’m writing you from Italy. I bought the A50 4/5 days ago. Internet **bleep** on this phone. Previously I had a galaxy j7 2016 and I never had problems with internet. Even if I’m in an area with full signal my internet **bleep**. I hope that they will improve the software with an update. Is a good phone but for now can’t be used without wifi. I tried to use LTE but with bad results. I changed the city to see if the situation would change but without results. In an area with full signal LTE activated the phone didn’t want to connect to internet.

While the Galaxy A50 network issues are supposed to go away after the August update that recently went out to model SM-A505F, it appears that the same issues still persist.

From the look of things, it seems the update never actually addressed the Galaxy A50 network issues at hand, which is pretty much possible considering the OTA weighed a mere 3.89MB. Affected users are still streaming the Samsung Community forums to air their grievances, some of which we’ve captured below.

Samsung sends a update of 3.89 mb in Samsung a50?and said they fix network issues.. After update nothing changed… They just restart our devices ??‍♂️

The complaints seem to never end as more and more affected users join in the conversation and even better is that there is a temporary workaround that seems to solve this problem for some affected units.

1. Switch OFF phone
2. Take out your SIM
3. Switch ON phone and reset Network settings
4. Switch OFF phone
5. Insert Your SIM
6. Press Volume up+ Power Key for wipe cache partition.
7. Reboot your Phone.

We still don’t know when Samsung will come up with a permanent fix for these seemingly widespread Galaxy A50 network issues. Nonetheless, we will keep an eye on future software updates and let you know when the network issues are addressed.
