Android 10 is on the block and top smartphone manufacturers like Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, etc have geared up for releasing the Android 10 based update for compatible smartphones.

However, when we talk about LG, its smartphones are nowhere in the news regarding Android 10 based updates. This is something which has become the bottom line of the LG smartphone company as we see no aggressive approach by the company to revive its smartphone brand.

According to the number from a report by Counterpoint Research, LG has just managed to update 16% of its smartphone sold after Q3 2018, to Android 9 Pie. This is not a number we would expect from any of the smartphone manufacturers as the smartphone market has become too competitive.

But, it’s only in the hands of the LG company, to bring back some life to its smartphone portfolio and also provide security and firmware updates. And in another bittersweet news, Verizon model of the LG V40 ThinQ is starting to receive the new update that brings the August 2019 security update for the device.

This is quite shocking to see that we are on the verge of completion of the September month and still the LG smartphone is receiving the August update.

Talking about the update, it carries the version number V405UA20c and bumps the security patch level to August 1, 2019. Below is official changelog and the screenshot of the update:

What’s changing:

This software update includes fundamental enhancements and the latest Android security patches.

Screen recording:

The update seems to bring in a lot of new features along with the August 2019 security update. It brings in the screen recording feature and also brings in more secure power-off where you now require to unlock your device when the phone is locked, to power off your device. This is a nice feature as it would prevent anyone from powering off your device easily.

Note that the update is rolled out via OTA in batches. However, if you have not received the update notification on your device, you can always check for the update by heading to Settings>>About Phone>>Software updates>>Check for update>>Download now. If there is a new update then, you can tap on the notification to download the new update.

Happy Installing!
