Original story (from Sept 19) follows:

The smartphone market is so fragile that no one can foresee the future of an OEM. During the initial years of Android, LG did sell their phones with decent sales figures. However for the last few years, things haven’t been advancing in the way they want to.

LG turned over a new leaf and launched their first Android phone in 2009. Dubbed as GW620, the device had a QWERTY keypad apart from a fully functional resistive touch screen. In the next year, they kept the game going on with Optimus GT540.

The initial models did evoke the interest in the market. And, it resulted in the sales numbers too. But the intrusion of new Chinese brands turned everything upside down for LG. In fact, the market share took a steep downward curve.

Does that mean they are dead in smartphone business? No, they still release smartphones, albeit not aggressively. Irrespective of the new offerings, any manufacturer should deliver timely security patches. Poor market performance didn’t give LG an excuse in this regard.

So, that’s why they have just untied September patch for G7 One. Announced in August 2018, LG G7 One runs on Android One. Despite having Android 8.1 (Oreo) out of the box, the handset did receive Android Pie.

As you can see in the image, the package doesn’t have anything new to offer. What we spotted with the update is a Filipino unit. That means, users from other regions will have to suppress their curiosity for some time to get their hands on the patch.

Accompanying G7 One with the September update is Verizon branded LG ZONE 4. As compared to the former, it’s a bit old and packs in low-end specifications. Verizon has released the patch with the firmware version X210VPP13c.

In case you didn’t get a notification, you can follow Settings>> About phone>> Software updates>> Check for update>> Download now. It will maximise your chances of receiving the update.

Let us reiterate one thing. OTAs go out in batches. Meaning, not everybody get sit at the same time. If manually checking for update doesn’t work, the best thing is to wait for it to naturally hit your device.

Update 1 (Oct 09)

Verizon has released the September OTA (build number Q720VS10b) for LG Stylo 5 devices as well.
