OnePlus 7 Pro 90Hz screen refresh rate on Google Chrome working again with latest update
OnePlus made the headlines with the launch of its 2019 flagship devices, the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro earlier this year. Moreover, there are a lot of features, including the motorized pop-up selfie camera on the OnePlus 7 Pro device that made it one of the sought after flagships of the year.
Not only that, one of the best features that later became the most-wanted feature on the flagships, is the 90Hz refresh rate screen.Those who have used the OnePlus 7 Pro with the 90Hz refresh rate, would know what are we talking about in here.
The 90Hz refresh rate allows the user to have the smooth display performance where you can actually feel the processors working. Though technically that is not the case, however, the 90Hz refresh rate is pretty hard to let go for anyone who has used it.
For a quick recap, interestingly, the OnePlus 7 Pro started receiving the Android 10 beta update soon after the official launch of the stable OS by Google. This also puts OnePlus on top when it comes to the speedy delivery of updates for its devices and shows the commitment of the company towards its users.
Note that the 90Hz screen refresh rate is reserved only for the OnePlus 7 Pro and the Pro 5G while the standard variant of the OnePlus 7, misses this feature. However, the 90Hz refresh rate does not work with all apps, but with system or compatible apps. Besides, this 90Hz refresh rate was not working on any of the browsers, even Google Chrome.
Surprisingly, Google Chrome was previously supported by this 90Hz refresh rate, which a few days back, become incompatible. We previously reported how you can force all the apps to use the 90Hz refresh rate on the OnePlus 7 Pro by unlocking the hidden “true 90Hz” option.
We also spotted, that there’s an app called Auto90, that allows the user to use the 90Hz refresh rate on a per-app basis. Note that the 90Hz refresh rate will take a toll on the battery life of your device. So, with the help of the Auto90 app, you can easily manage which app uses the 90Hz display.
Previously, many users along with AndroidAuthority reported that Google Chrome has lost 90Hz support. You can check out the Reddit post’s screenshot of one of the users reporting the same, below:
But, with the new Google Chrome update, the browser has now again become compatible and now supports the 90Hz refresh rate on the OnePlus 7 Pro device. The new update carries the version number 77.0.3865.73 and is available for download via the Google Play Store.
Below are some of the Reddit posts’ screenshots of the users reporting that the new update has fixed the issue in Chrome browser;
Make sure to check out the update on the Play Store (or a reliable host like APK Mirror) and update the Google Chrome browser to enjoy the 90Hz refresh rate again on it.
Let us know in the comments below whether the 90Hz refresh rate has become one of the premium features that you are now looking for while deciding your future smartphone?
