Overwatch : Major voice chat issues reported by players in mass numbers
A month ago, Blizzard added a new hero and role queue to the Overwatch game. The players are trying the best possible combinations with this new hero and adapting to the new game mode Role Queue. The new game mode comes with a role lock which means if you have selected a tank hero, then you can only choose between tank heroes during the game.
The new game mode has received mixed reactions from the community. Some fans are enjoying the new mode, while some are vouching for the old mode to become permanent. However, players can still play the classic 6v6 in the arcade tab.
Overwatch game is running strong for the past three years; however, many bugs kept plaguing the game from time to time. But the developers were quick enough to provide timely fixes and updates to the game.
However, a new bug is currently affecting a huge amount of players. Many Overwatch players are complaining that Voice Chat is not working properly for the game. They have taken the issue to Reddit and other Overwatch forums to express their concerns. Have a look at the users’ complaints below.
However, an Overwatch fan and Reddit user ‘u/nKoshi’ has shared a workaround that is working well for many players. According to him, you need to have Overwatch running in the background. Then you need to follow the path shared below to get into Advanced Sound Options.
Start menu>PC settings>System>Sound
In that window, you will have Overwatch as one of the apps where you can select its default input and output devices. Set that to the ones you usually use and try to join a quick match and voice chat to see if it works. You might have to reboot the game after you changed these settings.
Well, the method listed above may not fix the issue for all the users. ‘Overwatch officials have already addressed this issue on the official Blizzard forum website and Reddit forum. They have also shared a troubleshooting method for this issue. Have a look at the official statement from Blizzard Official.
Hey you all,
Just to reiterate what was mentioned earlier and follow up, the reason there is no more traction on this at the moment is that every time we have done a dive on voice chat errors since this thread started, there is no marked increase in errors for PS4 players. We currently are pretty sure this is an individual issue, especially since many of the reports here say that it comes and goes, or happens after a disconnection. Those indicate connection problems, not a game coding or server issue. Other players are on college networks, which have a host of issues of their own.
For anybody impacted with this issue currently, I recommend going through this console troubleshooting and the steps that apply to consoles here. That is steps 1/5. You can try starting your own thread if that fails. We’ll keep an eye out for spikes in voice chat problems, but for now you’re probably going to get better results by troubleshooting this. I’d wager a fair amount of you can probably get this fixed if you troubleshoot the problem.
Well, as per the wording of Overwatch Official, the voice chat bug is only troubling a small number of players. But the players and community do not agree with this as the reports and issues with voice chat are increasing rapidly and affecting a mass number of players.
