PUBG, as most of you may be aware, is one of the most popular online multiplayer games that has been developed by PUBG Corporation. In fact, it was recently revealed that PUBG Mobile has over 100 million monthly active users, which excludes players in China.

Well that’s a huge user base, isn’t it?

But as is usually the case with other popular games, quite often PUBG hits the headlines for bugs/issues plaguing the game and service going down or not working. One such case has now surfaced again.

If you are on an Xbox or PS4 console and are wondering why PUBG (Player Unknown’s Battle Ground) game is down for you, then we have the information you are looking for.

Relax, you are not the only one affected by this outage as the game servers have entered a planned downtime for a couple of hours. What’s appeasing is that PUBG support Twitter handle officially announced this downtime sometime ago, as well as the reason behind it.

Here’s what PUBG support said while informing users regarding this on micro-blogging site Twitter:

Xbox & PS4 Players: Live servers will enter a 2-hour maintenance on May 21 12AM PDT / 9AM CEST. During this time, we will be distributing Survival Title System Beta Season 1 rewards.

Bad news: the maintenance has been extended by 2 hours. Here’s what the company just said:

PUBG servers are down today due to maintenance. Here’s what the company announced about this maintenance a few hours ago:

Xbox & PS4 Players: Live servers will undergo maintenance for 6 hours on July 29 10pm PDT / July 30 7am CEST.

The Deagle, BRDM-2, Ledge Grab, Improved Loot Sorting, and more will be available once maintenance is complete.

While the maintenance is now complete, team PUBG has acknowledged a new issue. Here are the details:

Xbox & PS4 Players: We are aware of an issue where directional input is registered twice while navigating the STORE and CUSTOMIZATION menu. We are working to resolve this issue and will post an update once resolved

Update 13 (July 31, 2020)

Another maintenance today, which has now started:

PC Players: Live server maintenance has begun and is expected to last 4 hours. A hotfix will be applied during maintenance to resolve a handful of bugs. Full details can be found at the bottom of our patch notes

Below are some notable bug fixes included in the hotfix:

– Fixed issue at Paradise Resort and Hacienda del Patron which allowed players to get to unintended locations
– Fixed graphics issue with certain settings after unscoping
– Fixed unintended howling wind noise on Erangel

PUBG servers are reportedly down at the moment. We’re seeing a string of complaints from users on social media platforms (see here) that say they are getting ‘Servers are too busy at the moment’ notification.

We are keeping a close watch on this, and will update the story as and when we find something newsworthy to share.

Live maintenance has begun.

Xbox & PS4 Players: Live server maintenance has begun and is expected to last 1 hour. A hotfix will be applied during maintenance to resolve the Radio Message activation bug, and instances of game crashing caused by weapon charms and rendering issues.

Another maintenance today. Here’s what PUBG Support tweeted:

Xbox & PS4 Players: Live servers will undergo maintenance for 12 hours on August 12 7pm PDT / August 13 3am CEST.

Survivor Title Season 2 will end with maintenance.

The maintenance period will be used to further investigate and collect data related to “Lost Connection to Host”

Please be aware that matches played once Survivor Title Season 2 concludes will not grant SP.

SP gains will resume with the new Survival Title Season. More information and a specific timeline will be shared at a later date

Both PUBG and Xbox are down and not working going by reports populating Twitter. Outage tracking service Down detector also conveys the same. PUBG support however hasn’t given a word on the matter yet.

Two live server maintenances have been scheduled for the implementation of the update v5.3. PC players will undergo a maintenance today for 8 hours, starting 4:30pm PST / 1:30am CET (Dec 18) / 9:30am KST (Dec 18).

On the other hand, for the console players, the same patch will be implemented by a maintenance scheduled tomorrow for 6 hours starting 9pm PST (Dec 18) or 6am CET (Dec 19).

A maintenance with a downtime of 4 hours has been scheduled for PC players for today. With this update, AR spawns on Erangel & Miramar will be increased and the visual glitch of the Tommy Gun skins will be resolved.

PC Players: Live servers will undergo maintenance for 4 hours on Jan 7 4:30pm PST / Jan 8 1:30am CET / Jan 8 9:30am KST to perform general service stabilization.

Thanks to community feedback, we’re increasing AR spawns on Erangel & Miramar by 20% upon completion of maintenance.

We’re also deploying a bug fix with maintenance to resolve a visual issue with skins for the Tommy Gun.

Sadly, the Tommy Gun skins issue wasn’t fixed with this update.

The previously announced visual fix for Tommy Gun skins was not applied during maintenance and will be resolved in a future update.

Even the outage alert service Down Detector says PUBG servers are encountering issues (see here and here). The official PUBG live status page (linked below), however, doesn’t show any outage at the moment.

Turns out it’s an issue at Microsoft’s end as Xbox Support has acknowledged the problem on Twitter.

PC Players: Live servers have entered emergency maintenance for an estimated 30 minutes

Maintenance has been scheduled for PC players for tomorrow.

PC Players: In 24 hours live servers will undergo routine maintenance to improve backend stability.

4 hour maintenance begins Mar 3 4:30pm PST / Mar 4 9:30am KST / Mar 4 00:30 UTC.

Some bug fixes will be applied during maintenance, with details shared once complete.

PC Players: Live server maintenance has started and is expected to last 4 hours.

Update 89 (March 10, 2021)

Scheduled maintenance for console players with a downtime of about 6 hours has been started. Cross Party Play, Team Deathmatch, grenade balance, Karakin loot changes, and more will be available after the update. For complete patch notes, head here.

Update 90 (March 17, 2021)

Incoming is a maintenance alert with a downtime of 7 hours for PC players for the deployment the update v6.3.

PC Players: Live servers will enter 7 hour maintenance starting Mar 17 5:30pm PDT / Mar 18 9:30am KST / Mar 18 00:30 UTC.

Update 6.3 will be available to play once maintenance is complete.

PC Players: Maintenance has now started and is expected to last 7 hours.

Update 6.3 bringing the Panzerfaust, weapon balance changes, custom match improvements, bug fixes and more, will be available once maintenance is complete.

Incoming is a server merger test for Console players, starting tomorrow.

Console Players: Starting on March 19 1pm AEDT, we will be conducting a server merge test on a new server location to help improve the overall health of matchmaking in OC & AS regions.

Update 93 (March 24, 2021)

Incoming is a maintenance alert for PC players with a downtime of about 4 hours.

PC Players: Live servers will enter maintenance for 4 hours starting Mar 24 5:30pm PDT / Mar 25 9:30am KST / Mar 25 00:30 UTC.

Alongside routine backend stability improvements, some bug fixes will also be applied. Full details will be shared once maintenance begins.

Maintenance is also lined up for Console players for March 25 with a downtime of about 2 hours.

Console Players: Live servers will undergo maintenance for 2 hours on March 25 10pm PDT/March 26 6am CET to apply Update 6.3.

Once complete, the Panzerfaust, weapon balance changes, Esports Mode, and more will be available.

Update 94 (March 25, 2021)

Following issues are being addressed during the current maintenance:

Fixed the following minor issues:
– ADS view obscured with certain weapons
– Unable to open mission list in some cases
– Visual issue with “Victory Dance 14” emote
– Panzerfaust warhead wouldn’t explode when shot mid air
– DBS and M249 spawned without ammunition on Karakin
– Unable to complete Panzerfaust missions which finishing DBNO enemies or kill backblasted enemies
– Unable to complete Sticky Bomb missions if the enemy was DBNO
– Weapon would remain in the character’s hand when bandaging

Maintenance for Console players has begun. Expected downtime – 2 hours.

Maintenance with a downtime of about 2 hours has begun for the console players.

Console Players: Live server maintenance has begun and is expected to last 2 hours.

Update 97 (April 16, 2021)

Incoming is a maintenance alert for PUBG Lite with a downtime of about 5 hours.

On April 16, 2020, the PUBG LITE servers will be under maintenance for an update.

Server maintenance will be held for 5 hours from 3:00AM ~ 8:00AM (UTC).

Update 98 (April 21, 2021)

Incoming is aalert for the PC players wherein the live servers will undergo a maintenece of about 7 hours for the deployment of the update v7.1.

[PC] Live servers will undergo maintenance for 7 hours on Apr 21, 5:30pm PDT / Apr 22, 00:30 UTC / 09:30 KST.

Once complete, Update 7.1 with Survivor Pass: Cold Front, quality of life improvements and the updated Vikendi will be available.

The maintenance has been extended for about half an hour.

Live server maintenance has begun for the console players for the deployment of update v7.1. with an expected downtime of about 4 hours.

Update 106 (June 10, 2021)

In case you’re wondering why PUBG isn’t working on your console, you’re not the only one. PUBG support did confirm that the live servers will undergo maintenance for approximately 6 hours on June 9 9:00 pm PDT/June 10 6:00 am CEST.

Hence, you’ll have to wait a bit to get that Chicken Dinner again.

Update 107 (June 11, 2021)

PUBG support confirmed that they’ll be releasing a small update to resolve a bug that sometimes causes reward mismatch to occur when opening Contraband Crates. This has also resulted in a bit of downtime which has now been extended by 30 minutes.

Update 108 (August 07, 2021)

08:53 am (IST): Fresh reports on the web indicate that PUBG servers have again gone down as many users from North America have taken to Twitter to report that they aren’t able to play the game.

So, PUBG servers are down… I thought my game was bugged so I deleted and re installed. And it’s just hit me imma have to re-do all my settings. Mannn, it took me weeks to fine tune all my sense’s. (Source)

The Xbox Status page also indicates that the team is aware of the problem and the team is working to resolve it.

Apart from that, Downdetector also shows a spike in the number of reports from people claiming that they’re having issues with the service.

12:48 pm (IST): PUBG Support has confirmed that the issue should now be resolved for all. However, the team will continue to keep an eye out for related problems.

12:00 pm (IST): It appears that the recent outage with PUBG has been resolved as we haven’t come across any fresh user reports on Downdetector.

10:16 am (IST): Many players have taken to Twitter to report that PUBG is currently down or not working for them. Moreover, reports on Downdetector also confirm the same.

However, PUBG support had already informed players that there will be live server maintenance. So this explains the current outage with the game.

01:35 pm (IST): PUBG servers are currently down on Xbox consoles as can be seen on the Xbox Live status tracker.

07:13 pm (IST): According to the Xbox Live status tracker, all PUBG online services are available again for Xbox consoles.

10:40 am (IST): Reports on Twitter (1, 2) and Downdetector seem to indicate that PUBG servers are currently down in some regions.

07:45 pm (IST): It seems that the outage with PUBG has now been resolved as we haven’t come across any fresh reports.

02:53 pm (IST): The recent outage with PUBG was due to maintanence ahead of update 19.1. And since the maintenance has been completed, all console players should now be able to access the game.

10:33 am (IST): PUBG support has informed players that there is a scheduled server maintanence that will last for 8 hours. And that’s the reason why the game is currently down or not working for many.

07:28 pm (IST): PUBG support has now informed players that the scheduled server maintenance has ended. That means the recent outage with the game has been resolved.

10:00 am (IST): According to Downdetector, PUBG is currently down or not working.

Apparently, the support team just took to Twitter to announce that Live server maintenance for the PC has begun and is anticipated to take 8.5 hours.
