[Aug 20 update] Capital One down: app, website, online banking login, and 360 services affected

There are new updates that have been added to the bottom of the story…

      Original story follows:

Looks like the Capital One bank is affected by an outage today. Customers are taking to social media platforms to share that the bank’s app, online banking, website, and 360 services are not working at the moment.

Here are some reports from Twitter:

@CapitalOne Access to my bank accounts still isn’t restored. Still can’t buy food for my baby. Still on hold with customer service after 35 minutes. Please fix this.

      — Marilyn Downing (@coasterfan12) March 8, 2019

@CapitalOne why can't customers retrieve there account info, there money is not there when logging into there checking or savings. Scary and does this frequently happen?

      — SummerandSpring (@tsheriehull) March 8, 2019

Going by reports, it appears there’s some sort of system update or maintenance going on.

@CapitalOne just talked to a customer service rep. I have one question Who the heck does a systems update on a Friday at 8 in the morning????? You couldn’t have done this during the night? #AskingForAFriend

We are looking for more info on the matter, especially official information from the bank itself. Will be updating this story in real time, so keep checking back.

      Update 1

A workaround that you can try to view your balance:

The only way I got it to work was by clicking on creditwise and letting that load up and then closing out of it and then I was able to view my balance

      Update 2 (August 20)

We are seeing reports of a similar outage today, with some complainants saying the Capital One app, website, and contact numbers are not accessible for them. Even the DownDetector service says Capital One is experiencing issues.
