Motorola has a story of lost glory. From launching the first ever mobile phone in the world to shrinking small in the sales numbers, many things happened; Google’s acquisition, ending up in the hands of Lenovo, and releasing a series of models that not many care about.

The company’s G7 2019 edition comes in four different variants; Regular Moto G7, G7 Play, G7 Plus, and G7 Power. Despite hitting the market in the second month of the year, the devices haven’t received periodical security patches.

Motorola, once a synonym of frequent updates have corroded the one thing they excelled at. Even when the company was trying hard to compete against the Chinese manufacturers, Google never forgot to release regular OTA pcakages. Stock UI and updates, that was Motorola.

Lenovo already proved they had no intention to carry on with the tradition. Moto G3 didn’t receive even a single major Android OS update till, and it ultimately faded away into the oblivion. No other device has endured the same fate so far.

Fortunate for Moto G7 Power users, the August security update is here. Though it has only been announced by the OEM, not pushed as yet. To recall, Moto G7 Power features a 6.2-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel, and went on sale way before the notch-less screen became a thing.

Under the hood, it packs in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 chipset. Every gadget enthusiast wrinkled their forehead against Motorola for this selection. The 64 GB internal storage can further be expanded up to 1 TB.The main camera has only one sensor of 12 MP resolution and f/2.0 aperture.

As for monthly OTAs, just recently, the device managed to receive the security patch dated June a week ago, though some units only. And now the release notes of the August update for the G7 Power has been shared, however the patch may take days or weeks to rollout.
