Just last week, Xiaomi pushed the June security patch to Redmi 7 (the OEM’s current year mid-range phone fueled by a Snapdragon 632 processor). The update (MIUI V10.3.3.0) fixed a couple of issues and introduced a lock screen clock.

June OTA on Xiaomi Redmi 7 (Indian units)

Cut to now. A week later, a similar update with a few additional changes is rolling out to Redmi Note 7/7S devices. But the major difference is, this one brings the latest July security patch instead of June.

As an expansion of Redmi Note 7 lineup of devices, the Chinese OEM Xiaomi recently introduced Redmi Note 7S in India. It’s a 48MP camera device fueled with Snapdragon 660 chipset, shipped with Android Pie layered with MIUI 10. Redmi Note 7S will basically be replacing Redmi Note 7 in the region.

Kingshuk De from our team has clarified the detailed difference between Redmi Note 7 and 7S here.

Coming to the currently circulating July update on Redmi Note 7 & 7S units, it adds the popular lock screen clock. As for bug fixes, the issues wherein media volume refused to restore after receiving a notification and hands-free call duration didn’t show correctly in Game Turbo have been resolved.

Apart from that, Wi-Fi networks sorting principle and Mi Cloud sync have also been optimized.
