The relationship between vanilla Android and themes are somewhat complicated. OEM skins like One UI from Samsung or EMUI from Huawei have their own theming engine, while OnePlus decided to include simple but elegant dark mode with various accent colors.

The phones does feature another interesting visual component, which is a dream for any themer. We are talking about the in-display fingerprint logo and/or animation, which can be found on OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 7 series.

Yes, this is one we are talking about

The McLaren Edition of OnePlus 6T came with a special animation style, which was immediately ported to the regular variant. However, there is no easy way to change the fingerprint icon itself.

The task is not impossible though. In fact, someone did find a way to modify the fingerprint icon of OnePlus 6T and published an app called OPFPControl.

Time for the same love for OnePlus 7 Pro, but with more bells and whistles! XDA Senior Member Bradl79 authored a nifty little app so that you can choose from the official logos of all 32 National Football League teams and set one as your fingerprint icon!

While most of the countries don’t agree with the USA regarding the definition of ‘Football’, it is still nice to flaunt your favorite NFL team logo on your phone. The dev also bundled icon specific animated themes so that you can mix and match between them.

Like the previous mod, you do require Substratum Theme Engine as a mandatory prerequisite. The engine needs root access, which is a piece of cake for OnePlus 7 Pro. The app should be listed under Substratum as NFL_FP, and you can choose icon and animation style from there.

– Choose your Teams Animation and Fingerprint, then Click on the switch button on the right (Android System and System UI will then be checked)

– Click on the Layers button to bottom right > Build & Install

– Reboot

– Re-Open Substratum and Click on Manager > Check the theme you want and Click the Layer button on bottom right > Enable selected

The app can be downloaded using this link and the support thread is here. We are not sure if the mod is compatible with the regular OnePlus 7 as well, so try that on your own. The dev also accepts requests about new logos.
