New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Whether you’re a customer of AT&T or T-Mobile or Verizon, your Galaxy S10 is still stuck on March 2019 security patches. The situation is slightly different for Sprint, as the wireless carrier was forced to release the April patch as a part of LTE connection bugfix update.

For remaining US carriers, the build number of the latest software version for Galaxy S10 series is ASD3. Although Samsung compiled this particular build in April (refer to the ‘D’ part in the build number), they did not ship the corresponding security patches.

On the other hand, the Exynos powered global Galaxy S10 models received ASD5/ASD6 builds across multiple countries. Besides April 2019 security patch level, this update also brought the long-anticipated night mode feature in stock Samsung camera.

PiunikaWeb readers should remember that the ASD3 build for US Snapdragon models was leaked by the folks over firmware.science before official release. In fact, a redditor noticed the update prompt on a alleged T-Mobile store unit days before the public rollout.

Well well well, firmware.science hits once again with the yet-unreleased April security patch update (build number ASD7) for the carrier branded US Galaxy S10e, S10 and S10 Plus models.

XDA Recognized Contributor Rydah, who is also the lead moderator for SamCentral community and an admin for firmware.science, is the man behind this leak. According to him, this build is eventually heading towards a public rollout by the wireless providers.

The model specific download links can be found here:

  • Galaxy S10 (SM-G973U) ASD3 to ASD7: Download
  • Galaxy S10+ (SM-G9705U) ASD3 to ASD7: Download

US Galaxy S10 users can now grab the appropriate update zip package for their model and manually sideload using recovery mode.

Download, copy to SD card and power the phone down. After it’s off, hold power, bixby and volume up until you see Samsung S10+ screen, or you can hold until you see the blue screen, then let go. Choose update from sd card and choose the dowloaded file you copied to SD card.

These incremental OTA update packages are universal, thus all carrier branded Galaxy S10 variants can be updated to the ASD7 build. Beware AT&T users, cause your data will be wiped out by manual flashing.

Rydah (who is known as u/rydah805 in reddit) has further confirmed that the dedicated night mode is still missing from this build. Looks like US Galaxy S10 users need to wait considerably longer to get their hands on the updated camera app from Samsung.

Although it is possible to install the updated stock Samsung camera app separately, getting the night mode to work is going to be difficult. The low light photography enhancements are likely tied with the camera related shared libraries.

These incremental zips weigh less than 200 MB, which indicates that they are merely security patches with minor fixes. Sprint users, who are already on ASD5 build, can’t install this update due to mismatched base version.

According to Rydah, another build is in works which originally initiated after April. The version number of this work-in-progress build should be ASE1 (E is the indicator of the fifth month aka May).

Lol right! Hopefully things improve. I’m already getting word of a newer build, ASE1 that is in development.

Preliminary user feedback are positive in nature, although only a minuscule fraction of the US user base could have flashed this build till now.
