There are new updates to this story that have been added at the bottom…

Chinese telecom company Vivo’s 2018 mid-range smartphone V11 Pro shipped with Android Oreo 8.1 (upgradable to Android Pie 9.0) – which was the latest stable version of Android then – and is powered by the company’s own skin Funtouch OS 4.5.

Vivo NEX S was the company’s first device that received Android Pie just last month. Pie on Nex S brought along many features like Game Box, Jovi Smart Sceen, Jovi Voice Assistant, iHouseKeeper, camera optimization as well as the ability to connect Bluetooth simultaneously with two devices.

Coming to Vivo V11 Pro, back in February this year, the company informed that Android Pie update will land on V11 Pro in March. But last week only, there came a heads-up saying the update has been delayed to the second quarter of this year.

As per Vivo’s Android Pie update plan, while V11/V11i, V11/V11 Pro and V9 (6GB)/V9 Pro are likely to receive Pie in the second quarter, the same will be pushed to NEX, X21, V9 and V9 Youth in the third quarter of this year.

V11 Pro users were clearly disappointed due the delay at Vivo’s end in delivering the much awaited Android 9.0.

One of the V11 Pro users even shared a video which showcases the complete change log.

In addition to the usual Android Pie goodies, the update as per the change log, brings new UI design, an upgraded Shortcut Center, Dark Mode improvements, new training ground for sound based positioning and new settings menu in Game Box and more.

Have you received the update yet? If yes, share with us your observation.

Update 1 (April 19)

We are seeing a lot of reports wherein users are still waiting for the vivo V11 Pro Android 9.0 Pie update. Confusingly, the vivo India Twitter handle is telling some users that the update is still being prepared.

Either customer care and development teams at vivo are not in sync or something else is going on. Rest assured, we are keeping an active tab on the matter and will update the story as and when we come across something newsworthy.

Update 2 (April 22)

vivo’s social media handles are confirming the V11 Pro Android 9.0 Pie update has indeed been roll out, but the catch is it’s part of a test as of now.

We would like to inform you that recently Android pie update has been released in V11Pro but it is for testing purpose whenever it will be compatible with the handset then you will get the notification for the same

Presumably, the company is waiting to see the kind of feedback it gets from this small set of users who have got the update, and if everything is fine, a wider roll out should start soon.
