When it comes to price vs. performance, it’s hard to defeat Poco F1. Killer config, continuous update, community centric development – it ticks out everything a common user wants.

960 fps slo-mo video shooting & night mode are the two much anticipated features of this beast, and now it’s another step forward. As confirmed by Alvin Tse, the Global Head of Xiaomi’s Pocophone division, the update is queued under Beta Stable.

We have also spotted the announcement thread inside Xiaomi’s user forums, where it is also ensured that the update bundles January security patch with it.

OTA changelog

Unfortunately there’s no word regarding the controversial Widevine L1 support yet. No mention about the DRM is present in the changelog for this update, which is bearing the tag V10.2.2.0.PEJMIXM. The issue is in hot water right now, but excuses are coming along.

It is worth mentioning that 960 fps slo-mo & enhanced low light mode were already introduced via Beta channel in early December of 2018.

On the other hand, the camera sensor of Poco F1 (Sony IMX363) is not capable of recording true 960 fps video. Thus 240 fps video is frame-interpolated to 960 fps and then played back at 30 fps, as suggested by XDA for MIX 3 using similar software based ‘enhancement’.

We are not sure whether this enhanced low light mode is same as the ‘Super Night Scene’ feature introduced with Mi MIX 3. OEMs keep inventing new marketing jargons to differentiate themselves.?

Part of standard practice, the OTA reach will be limited to handful of users right now. We will expect a broader rollout soon, and the article will be updated with the links of the update packages then or you can grab the recovery update package from here to flash manually.
