Update (December 07):

Hyundai representative reached out to us over email to inform that fix for the problem has been released as part of a new update to the app. Here’s their exact statement:

On December 5th, we experienced unforeseen issues with a regularly scheduled update to the MyHyundai login system. This update impacted the MyHyundai with Blue Link mobile app. We have released a new version of the mobile app resolving this issue. Some customers will need to reinstall the app and change their password to access their account and Blue Link features. Customers need to make sure they have app v4.0.9 on their device. We apologize for any inconvenience caused

Original story follows:

Application updates often end up messing up functionalities. One such case coming to light is related to the ‘MyHyundai with Blue Link’ app that received an update recently, and since then complaints related to login are proliferating.

Well if you aren’t aware, MyHyundai with Blue Link gives you a remote access to your Hyundai vehicle with the help of Blue Link technology. From starting the engine of your car to locating the car in a parking, it supports multiple features.

But after the recent update, things aren’t reportedly acting well. User reports, the update deleted their login credentials and now the app won’t let them login. Rather, it throws a notification stating the server is unavailable.

Those affected are routing to micro-blogging site Twitter to bring the matter to light. For a quick glance, following are some of the recent tweets:

and more – 1,2,3,4,5.

As far as we can see, an endless string of reports can be seen posted across the reviews section of the app’s Play Store listings page, with some of the complainants saying:

Used to work fine. Said I needed an update to continue using it. I updated and it wiped out my login credentials and wont even run now. Get this: says I need an update to continue using. I already updated so there is no update available. Dont these people test it before dumping it on their users?

The new update that I was forced to install made this app completely useless. Requires me to login each time. Uninstalled and reinstalled it and now it wont even connect to the server. So mad that I paid for this service that I now cannot use.

App stopped working after last update – I am unable to login now. App rarely works and only gets updated once per year. Please update more frequently and add new features like auto-lock to prevent break-ins.

Wow. Now it’s freezing outside and the app won’t let me login. What’s the point of this service if it doesn’t work? Great work Hyundai

A paid app not letting you login right in the mid of December chills, and then support not answering your calls for hours is indeed troublesome. We hope developers fix things up soon. Rest assures, we’ll keep you informed.

Meanwhile, at least the web version of the service hasn’t reportedly been affected and is working as intended. Unless Hyundai fixes up what’s causing the mess, you can go for the web version.
