Smart Boost is one of new features that debuted with OnePlus 6T. Part of the all new OxygenOS 9, this feature improves the overall performance of the system by improving app cold starts time (from 5 to 20 percent). While details about Smart Boost are scarce at the moment, here’s how XDA’s Mishaal Rahman explains it:

The reviewer’s guide states that Smart Boost is currently applied to gaming apps with additional compatibility and improvements planned for the future. Again, we don’t know which apps/games it works on, how it works, and how effective it is. But we do know that the performance is excellent and the available memory on the OnePlus 6T is high, so Smart Boost is probably somewhat helpful

So it’s reasonable to say Smart Boost is a useful little feature, for gaming enthusiasts at least.

What’s now coming to light is that this functionality is missing from a large number of OnePlus 6T units. Yes, we are talking about the T-Mobile variant of the flagship smartphone. Many users have been complaining about this missing feature on their T-Mobile OnePlus 6T.

why no smart boost option on tmobile 6t phone??

I don’t have great option for smart boost

The Smart Boost option is found under settings -> utilities -> Oneplus Laboratory, but complainants have specifically shared that the last option is missing. Some of them even shared screenshots. Take a look:

Clearing off this confusion, a OnePlus Bug Hunter Jeff H. effectively confirmed the absence of Smart Boost on T-Mobile OnePlus 6T by saying the feature will be made available in the next update. Here’s what exactly they said:

Smart boost option will be available after the next update from T-mobile

While it’s good that T-Mobile would be including the feature as part of an update, there’s currently no information as to when that update will arrive.

T-Mobile OnePlus 6T variants are already an update behind the unlocked OnePlus 6T models. There are reports that T-Mobile would push that update sometime around Black Friday. So it’s reasonable to assume that Smart Boost would be included in that update.

Rest assured, we’ll let you know as an when that happens. Until then, keep a tab on this space.
