Update (July 29):

The problem has now been fixed, as confirmed by a Google employee.

Wanted to provide an update and confirm that this issue should now be fixed (as of approximately Tuesday 9pm PT).

Original story:

If anything goes wrong with Google Search it immediately comes to light, thanks to the popularity of the search engine.

One such case currently being highlighted on the company’s official help forum is saved images not showing up in the Favorite images section, with users getting the ‘Collection could not be found ‘ message.

The problem occurs while accessing Google Search web client both from PC as well as phone, irrespective of the browser being used – we’re seeing reports at least from Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Chrome, and Safari users.

What’s good is that Google is already looking into the matter. Here’s what a Google employee recently said:

The relevant teams are currently looking into it.

Issue details

There are a lot of user reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) on the matter. Here’s a selection of comments that should give you more clarity:

I use google chrome as browser and windows 10 . I cant delete my saved images couse i cant open up favourite images folder. When i click on favourite images button nothing happens and it says collection not found. I tried on android and i tried on pc it didn’t matter. neither on pc nor telephone i can’t reach my saved images except last 5 images that i added.

I have an album of saved photos that has over 1,000 pictures. When I opened it on Chrome on my PC today instead of loading the pics I clicked it multiple times and nothing happened. On my phone it just says Collection Could Not Be Found.

I’m having an issue with one of my folders on google save where it keeps telling me collection not found whenever I open a folder of my the pictures I’ve saved. I checked the other folders and none of them have this problem and I’m able to see the photos. I’m not sure if google lost the photos I’ve saved. I’m very upset about it, please help.

It’s worth stressing that the problem is limited to Favourite images, as the ‘Last Added Items’ section above it clearly shows recently saved pictures.

Google’s acknowledgement

The problem was escalated to Google by one of the Top Contributors on their official help forum a few days back.

And (as already mentioned in the beginning) the same got acknowledged recently, with a Google employee updating those affected that it’s being looked into.

While it’s relieving that Google is aware and working on the matter, how long will they take to resolve it is not known yet. We hope that happens sooner than later. Rest assured, we’ll update as and when that occurs.

Note: For those of you aren’t aware, images saved from Google search results can be accessed by heading to Images (underneath Google search box)>View Saved (in the right upper corned of the search window).
