Note: We tried reproducing the problem at our end, but the maximum we could get was a browser tab crash, not system crash.

Issue 2:

We were able to verify this crash problem on our iPhone as well.

The number of complaints have blown up. To catch hold of how widespread the issue is, take a look at our latest coverage on the matter.

Has the update fixed battery drain?

This was one of the main problems introduced by iOS 11.4. So naturally, the burning question currently is whether or not iOS 11.4.1 fixes the battery issues?

Well, it’s too early to say as reports so far have been mixed.

How is ios 11.4.1 treating your iphone? Battery life is better? (Iphone SE user :)) from ios

Needless to say, it takes time for a new update to settle down, so we’ll continue monitoring what users say, and will update this section with more (and hopefully conclusive) reports in days to come.

USB Restricted Mode can be defeated

One of the major highlights of the iOS 11.4.1 update is the new USB Restricted Mode feature, which seems to be aimed at defending password/passcode breaking software. However, researchers have found a loophole in the implementation of the new feature.

Taiwan crash issue fixed

The new release also fixes a crash issue with Chinese iPhones. The problem reared its ugly head whenever the word ‘Taiwan’ was mentioned in a chat (across applications) or whenever the emoji flag of Taiwan was received in chats.

Apps and App Store related issues

Some users are also complaining about issues related to app updates and App Store.

However, there are also reports that suggest the app update issues aren’t triggered by the latest update.

PiunikaWeb is a unique initiative that focuses on investigative journalism. This means we do a lot of hard work to come up with news stories that are either ‘exclusive’ or ‘breaking’ in nature. Perhaps that’s the reason our work has been picked by the likes of Forbes, Engadget, The Verge, Macrumors, and more. Do take a tour of our website to get a feel of our work.
