Oculus Rift will soon gain an exciting new feature, dubbed Events. The feature – already available on some other Oculus VR headsets (including the new Go) – will allow Rift users to discover and join public events like tournaments, meet ups and concerts.

The news comes courtesy of a recent post on Oculus’ official forum where-in a company employee announced the availability of Rift SI 1.26 on the Public Test Channel (or the beta channel).

Here’s what the change-log says about the Events feature:

You can now discover public events on Rift, such as tournaments, social gatherings, and free weekends. Browse and subscribe to events via the Oculus desktop app. Once subscribed you’ll receive a desktop notification when it’s time to jump in and join the fun

In addition to Events, the update pushed out to the beta channel also includes a Rift Core 2.0 Beta change that improves the Oculus Desktop usability in Dash. And finally, there are general graphic improvements across all applications.

There’s currently no information on when the public roll out of the update will begin.
