Are you a Chromecast addict? And are you planning to buy a Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9+? Hold on, we suggest you to wait for now as you won’t be able to screen cast through your $800 possession. Sad, but that’s how it currently stands.

Official confirmation

Google’s official Twitter account (@madebygoogle) disclosed the limitation to one of the Galaxy S9 users who complained of facing connectivity issues while using Chromecast. Take a look at what they said

Disappointed, right? Well, the story doesn’t end here.

Story continues…

In look out for more information, we were able to locate a thread on Samsung’s official help forum wherein Galaxy S9/S9+ buyers have been complaining of similar Chromecast-related issues. A quick go through the following comments will give you a better idea of the use-cases being pointed:

My phone (S9+) cannot see my Chromecast devices on my home network. It’s not a Chromecast issue, because they are viable on all the other devices in my house. I can work around it by going in the settings and running an optimization, but I have to do that every time I want to cast.

I have done that, a complete factory data reset, and even had them swap out my S9+ for a brand new one. The problem still exists! I also have a GS6 edge and a GS8+ that handle Chromecast just fine. So, it’s the phone! How can you make an android phone that doesn’t recognize chromecast? It also won’t connect to my Sony Bravia Android 4K TV! (Which is basically a fancy Chromecast) Please fix it!

To me, it seems like a software problem on Samsung’s side of things. It seems like it is an issue with power saving or putting programs or services to sleep. Once I can “wake up” Chromecast, it will be fine for a while.

In case you have already purchased Galaxy S9/S9+, tough luck. All you can do is wait for Samsung to optimize their latest flagship for screen casting.
