[Update: fixed] Google image search using exact size dimensions broken, fix in works
Update (April 06):
Google has fixed whatever was causing the glitch.
Update (April 02):
Google has identified a fix, but will take another week to roll out the same.
UPDATE: The team has found and verified a fix for this issue, but unfortunately it won’t be live for ~1 week due to the nature of how it needs to be rolled out. Understand this is not ideal, but we appreciate your patience in the meantime.
Have you tried performing a Google image search using exact size dimensions lately, only to realize that it’s not working? If so, you are not the only one facing this issue. In fact, users have been complaining about this for almost a week on Google Search and Assistant help forum.
Basically, users report that the feature to search an image of exact size (Tools->Size->Exactly) on Google is currently broken and generates no results (as can be seen in the following user shared video).
Even we can confirm the same.
But what’s good is that Google is not only aware, but also working to fix this. Google employee Andy B (who is also the Search & Assistant Community Manager at the company’s official help forum) confirmed the news a few hours back, saying
I want to confirm we’re aware of this issue and currently looking into it.
Furthermore they also added that currently there’s no known time like as to how long will it take to fix the glitch.
I don’t have a concrete timeline I can provide for when this will be fixed, but the relevant teams are still actively investigating this issue.
See both the statements here:
We hope Google fixes whatever is broken sooner than later. Rest assured, we’ll keep updating as and when any further development takes place. So keep a tab on this space.
