By the closure of year 2017, broke down another functionality on Google’s flagship Pixel 2 devices. Users reported screen doesn’t wake up on incoming calls while their unit is connected to another device through Bluetooth.

What’s appeasing is that this ‘screen wake up’ issue has been fixed in the Dialer App’s latest version, which is currently rolling out.

The confirmation about the fix came from Google employee Orrin (the Community Manager at Pixel User Community), while acknowledging some of the users for whom the issue was resolved after upgrading to the latest version of Phone/Dialer App.

Orrin not only called the matter settled, but also updated that while the roll out v16 has already started, it will take a few more days to reach out to all.

Like many of you have noticed, this issue is resolved in v16 of the Dialer App. This has started to roll out to users, and will continue over the next few days until it reaches 100%

Going back to the actual issue, it was reported that instead of waking up, the screen stayed black (in sleep mode) when calls came in, until manually woken. The ‘screen wake up’ issue only showed up when a Bluetooth device (like headset/watch) was connected to the phone.

The following user comments clearly explain the problem being discussed:

The aforementioned problem was majorly reported on Pixel 2 units, with a few complaints on first gen devices as well. As already mentioned above, a couple of days back, some of those affected started chiming that the issue got fixed for them after receiving an update of Phone App.

Soon after some users called it fixed, Google confirmed that the latest version of Dialer/Phone App has fixed the aforementioned glitch, though the update is yet to reach all. We hope just like this matter, Google fixes the other issues plaguing their flagship phones soon.
