Before we start with the relevant stuff, let’s get one thing out of the way: the Xiaomi Mi A1 got the Oreo update in the beginning of the year, but the update has been temporarily stopped due to bugs, some of which the company has already acknowledged.

Now coming to the main news, if you recall, when the Mi A1 Oreo update was being beta tested, there were reports that the company has included support for fast charging in the new OS. However, when the update actually arrived, those who compared charging times said that Nougat-powered Mi A1 and Oreo-powered Mi A1 were on the same level.

And now, we managed to dig out a screenshot where a Xiaomi rep is offering some clarification on the matter. And from what they have said, it safe to say that Oreo update for the device might not include fast charging support after all.

As you can see, when asked about fast charging support for the device after the Oreo update, the rep just says the fast charging icon you see on Oreo-powered Mi A1 identifies whether or not the charging adapter supports fast charging.

It’s worth stressing that the response came from a customer care rep, who we’ve seen aren’t fully informed many times (be it any company). However, this is as official as we can get currently on the Mi A1 fast charging matter.
