Update (July 18): Finally, international OnePlus 6 units have also started getting the OxygenOS 5.1.9 update.

Update (July 17): Following is the update change-log in English (courtesy XDA member Aoitoori_Android).

The new Sleep standby optimization feature could be aimed at resolving the excessive battery drain problem.

Original story follows:

While units in rest of the world are still stuck at OxygenOS 5.1.8, Chinese OnePlus 6 has started receiving another update, bumping the HydrogenOS version from 5.1.10 to 5.1.11.

As you can see, the screenshot contains text in Chinese, so there’s an obvious language barrier to understand what all changes are included in the HydrogenOS 5.1.11 update.

However, we managed to dig out translation reported by a user at official OnePlus Forums. Following is what they shared.

– System enhancements
-New standby function (new standby optimizations need to be activated manually)
-Activating flash (off screen with gestures) improved
-Camera clarity is improved
-Wifi stability is improved
-Gaming with dual 4g is improved
-Bluetooth car connection and stability is improved
-Some sounds issues with games fixed (like game sounds is low after activating of the microphone)

The details mentioned in release notes are generic – I mean, we don’t see mention of fix to any of the major bugs currently plaguing OnePlus 6. It’s possible that fixes for some problems are included, but haven’t been detailed in the change log.

While updates are arriving thick and fast in China, it’s still not clear why international OnePlus 6 units haven’t been updated beyond OxygenOS 5.1.8.

Oneplus6-edited

After HydrogenOS 5.1.10 arrived in China last month, there were high hopes that OxygenOS 5.1.10 will also arrive soon. But it was a long and frustrating wait for international OnePLus 6 users after which the company confirmed that OnePlus 6 will get new update this week.

As the confirmation came, it was considered implicit that the company is talking about all OnePlus 6 models. But now, with Chinese variants getting HydrogenOS 5.1.11, and international models still waiting at 5.1.8, it’s hard to even speculate whether or not roll out of next OxygenOS version (5.1.10 or 5.1.11) is imminent.

It’s worth mentioning that ever since OxygenOS 5.1.8 rolled out, users have been reporting heavy battery drain. With that in mind, it’s reasonable to assume the news about Chinese OnePlus 6 units getting yet another update will likely not go down well with international OnePlus 6 users.

We hope whatever is causing the delay gets resolved soon, and users in India, the US, Europe, and other key markets get the new update sooner than later.
