OnePlus launched a trade-in program for the OnePlus 6 around two weeks before the device’s launch. The program details said you could either trade-in your old, existing device for a voucher or go for cash back.

While on the face of it, the program seems quite simple, turns out it’s actually not. Several users who opted for the voucher option were in for a surprise when they were handed over multiple vouchers of smaller amounts instead of the single voucher of the complete trade-in amount.

And the surprise turned nasty when they were told that the trade-in program doesn’t allow users to use more than one voucher.

So in a nutshell, if someone got £160 trade-in price for their old device in the form of three vouchers – say £100, £50, and £10 – they could only use the £100 voucher against their OnePlus 6 purchase to get the maximum benefit.

Needless to say, users aren’t happy:

I have taken part in the trade-in program using my 3T.
I managed to get a 160GBP value worth voucher in return.
I tired to use the voucher to buy a new OP6. however, the 160GBP value is divided into 3 different voucher but I can only use 1 at a time. 🙁
I cant use the 160GBP worth voucher to buy a new OP6. whats the point of the trade-in then!?

I am one of the users who trusted in the seriousness of their buyback program they did for the premiere of Oneplus 6.
I just received the codes to spend in their online store, my surprise was that in the valuation of my phone I have been given three codes:

first € 100
second € 50
third 10 €

These three codes according to their conditions can not be spent on the same purchase, which is a deception in the announcement of its re-purchase.

At least one user managed to grab the attention of the company towards this problem on the official OnePlus forums. And here’s what a OnePlus employee said to the complainant today:

Our platform team is working on this issue. To get things resolved faster, I have already passed your information to our CS team and they will send you a £160 voucher.

While that’s certainly good news for the complainant, the question is what about others who are sailing in the same boat? Are they also supposed to raise their cases individually in OnePlus forums? Or the company will change its policy of issuing multiple vouchers? There’s no clarity on this at the moment.
