[Update: Fixed] YouTube working to fix missing subscribe button issue with new channels
Update (May 15):
Google has fixed the issue.
What’s the point of having a YouTube channel if no one can subscribe to it? Yes, the answer is ‘no point’ and Youtube seems to be in agreement, evident from the fact that the company has started investigating missing subscribe button issue with new channels.
Thanks for letting us know. We’ve seen an increase in reports of subscribe buttons missing on newly created channels. We’re aware and working to fix it!
That’s what Marissa, the community manager at official YouTube forums, said in response to someone whose channel got bitten by the bug.
Just take a look at the number of people who have raised this issue with the company so far, and you’ll agree the problem seems to be widespread.
While YouTube quickly acknowledged the problem (they are good at this – giving credits where due), they haven’t yet followed up to inform when we should expect the fix to arrive.
What’s presumably a minor glitch for the company, is loss of subscribers (and hence revenue) for channel owners. Sadly, that’s how things work in tech industry.
Anyway, we usually continue to pursue a matter until it comes to a logical conclusion, and this problem won’t be an exception. Keep a tab here as we’ll be updating the story when the problem gets fixed or as soon as something news-worthy happens.
