[Updated] YouTube in process of fixing frozen/out-of-sync videos issue

Update (3/13): We’re still in the process of fixing all impacted videos, which will take a bit more time. Appreciate your patience! If it’s an option, you could consider reuploading the video since the issue is fixed for all new videos.
Seeing choppy or out of sync videos on YouTube? Well, a new month, so we have new issues. In over past 24 hours, Google help forum got flooded (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20) with complaints about recently uploaded videos gone out of order. Going by reports, the recent uploads if played in any resolution other than 360p or 1080p tend to freeze, while the audio continues to play, rendering video-play useless.
Calm down. Google is at your rescue. Soon after complaints started pouring, Google acknowledged the glitch right away. Here’s what a company employee Marissa said while addressing the matter on the official YouTube help forum:
We are aware of the issue where videos are freezing after watching it for a few seconds and working on a fix. Thanks for the patience in the meantime!

Update: We’ve fixed what’s causing this, so any new video uploads won’t experience the same issue (if you were waiting on posting, go for it!). We’re now in the process of fixing all impacted videos, which will take a bit more time. Thanks for your continued patience!
Google’s latest statement reveals that they have caught hold of the bug, and fixed it as well, so the fresh uploads will not have any issue. But, they also mentioned that fixing the impacted videos will take time. So, those of you facing choppy, freezing or out of sync videos, wait is all you can do, until the company is done with its fixing process.
YouTube’s official Support page explained the problem saying:
“If you uploaded a video recently, you may be experiencing an issue where the video freezes after you’ve watched for only a few seconds. This may include frozen images, out-of-sync audio, or the video restarting itself. We’re aware of this issue and working to fix it.”

Here’s a workaround: you can try setting your player to the highest resolution by clicking the Settings icon > Quality.

YouTube is breaking and videos are freezing a tonne. I just uploaded and it's freezing at different places. I've watched over the original file and it's perfectly fine. Be aware that this is YouTube's mistake not yours.

I have had the same issue others are reporting all last night and this morning. The video I upload plays fine in the creator studio but freezes on all browsers when viewed on the channel (as a viewer would watch it) and on all computers including mobile. Sometimes the video endlessly spins and sometimes the video stops and the audio runs and sometimes the video and audio are mismatched. This has happened with multiple videos I uploaded last night regardless of if it was in .MOV or .MP$ format. However, all other videos of mine uploaded before last night and other videos are playing just fine. So it is not a connection issue or cache issue. It seems like a problem on YouTube’s end. What I noticed is that when the videos are uploaded that there is a preparing phase and an upload phase but no specific phase that says “Processing” anymore. I think this may be the problem. If uploaded videos are missing the processing step at the end, this might be what is leading to so many others having the same problem. Whatever the cause, I hope YouTube fixes it soon and announces a fix on this forum when it is fixed. I have deleted the videos to avoid frustrating my users but this has been a HUGE waste of time and VERY frustrating.
Hello, I am having this issue too. Where it just keeps stopping and makes the video and audio out of sync! I didn’t realize it was only the 720 resolution that doesn’t work. at 1080p it works just fine like you said. I wonder why this issue is occuring.. . . .
Currently as it stands now my latest YouTube videos can only be watched in 1080p 60fps or 360p. If you try to load any other video play settings the video freezes but the audio keeps going. For example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yx3kR4w30fg can only be played at 1080/60 & 360p. All other video quality settings are bugged on my last 2 uploads. Please looking for a fix.
One video was uploaded directly from the iPhone. One was rendered in my video editing suite on a Windows PC. And it would seem that on all of my browsers only MY videos are effected in this way where you can only view them in the HIGHEST available quality and 360p without the bug occurring!
