[Update: fixed] YouTube confirms associated website URL recognition issue
YouTube fixes the glitch with URL recognition. The confirmation came from Google employee Marissa on one of the relevant threads addressing the matter in question on the official help forum.
Original story below:
While Google is already working to process pending YouTube channel reviews on a faster rate, a new broken functionality is now being highlighted on the official YouTube help forum – URL for associated websites are not being recognized. The only relief is that YouTube acknowledged the problem this morning.
Going by reports, users are chiming that while inserting the link of their associated website in end screen annotations, an error stating URL not recognized as an associated website, merchandise, or crowdfunding site pops up, and inhibits them from adding the link.
The notification in question can be clearly seen in the following user-shared image:
Some of those affected also took to Twitter to bring the matter to light:
.@Youtube people. Help? I have had my website connected and a link on my end screen/annotations for… Years? Today it's suddenly giving me a "Website target URL/CTA not allowed" and won't allow the link. Website still listed as my associated website, with 0 problems.

Seemingly alarmed with the rising number of complaints, YouTube quickly jumped into action to confirm the problem. Here’s what Google employee Marissa (who is also the Community Manager at the official YouTube Help forum) said while addressing the matter in question:
We’re aware and working to fix this!
Furthermore, they also suggested a temporary workaround till the company fixes what’s broken.
As a workaround, you can manually add your website URL from your associated website list at youtube.com/advanced_settings to the card or end screen.
