December update fixes Sony Xperia X/X Compact auto turn-on security issue
A few weeks back, we uncovered a bug that results in Sony Xperia X/X Compact devices turning on/booting up by themselves during charging. Sony promised that the problem will be fixed in an upcoming software release. Well, inline with that, it has now come to light that the December patch (build .252) has resolved the issue.
The confirmation came from complainants themselves, who posted on the relevant thread on the official Xperia Support Community saying that the latest update has ended the glitch for them. Following are some of the user-comments confirming the fix:
To give you a brief idea, reports related to the problem started popping up after an update in October, with complaints saying that shortly after the phones complete charging, they automatically turn on. What made it a serious security issue is that the handsets bypass the SIM lock screen or encryption password prompt in the process, effectively entering a ready-to-use state.
It’s good that the problem has been resolved as promised. If you had the same issue on your Xperia X/X Compact device, fetch the December update to enjoy the glitch-free service. Oh, and yes, do let us know in comments if you still face the problem.
