Update (November 28):

It’s November end already, and the company is still investigating the matter in question. Google employee Orrin (in his recent post) is asking those affected for more information to debug the problem.

I’m continuing to reach out privately for more information so please keep an eye out for my email

Original story below:

Looks like Google plans to roll out the November OTA security update for some Pixel 2 devices in December. Baffled? Well, that’s what a large number of users on the official Pixel help forum, Reddit as well as Twitter are cribbing about.

For the record, here’s what Google officially said (on November 6) when this month’s OTA started rolling:

The November software update for Pixel is rolling out starting today, and it will reach all devices over the next week.

With a big chunk of Pixel 2/2XL owners – mostly on Verizon, T-mobile, and Project-Fi – chiming about not receiving the November update until now, it becomes an issue serious enough to be pointed out, as the delays have prevented users from getting hands over the promised fixes to several major issues as well as new bugs (oops sorry) offered in the November OTA.

Keeping humor aside, what’s relieving is that it’s confirmed to be an issue on Google’s end. An expert (top contributor) on the official Pixel User Community updated those affected by saying that matter is being looked into.

There is currently an issue that seems to be preventing some users from updating their phones and as mentioned earlier, our CM is aware of the issue and is looking into it

Furthermore, they added that

This could be an issue where an incremental OTA hasn’t been created from some builds to other builds as mentioned by Bill above or it can be something else. No matter what it is, they are looking into it and will hopefully resolve it

As can be seen above, the expert also mentioned that side loading is always an option. That said, it’s almost the last week of November itself, and how long will it take for those affected to receive the update, that’s not known. Though we are keeping a close watch on every related development, the clock’s ticking for November update glitch to be fixed before it’s time for the December patch to roll out.
