After the Pixel 2 clicking/ticking noise issue came to light, Google quickly acknowledged the problem and said it will be fixed through a software update in coming weeks. Inline with the promise, the company has now confirmed that the November security update – which has just started rolling out to Nexuses and Pixels – contains a fix for this issue.

The confirmation came in the form of a forum post from Google employee Orrin, who is also the community manager at the official Pixel User Community. Here’s exactly what he said:

So as you can see, aside from the faint clicking noise issue, Google says the color saturation problem (where-in users complained of display not appearing as vibrant as other phones) has also been fixed. The update also brings along some UI changes aimed at extending the life of the OLED display, “including a fade out of the navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen and an update to maximum brightness,” the company notes.

There are other changes/fixes in pipeline as well, that will arrive as part of the December security update and on an ongoing basis thereafter, Google says.
