YouTube’s realtime analytics feature completely broken, Google acknowledges issue
Hey YouTubers! If Realtime Analytics is not showing up any figures or flat-lined at zero for you as well, worry not. Google’s well informed.
What’s being reported is that Analytics is merely showing a zero figure, rather than displaying the actual, real-time view count. The following screenshot (shared by an affected user) clearly shows 0 views in the Last 60 minutes graph on the right.
A Google Employee confirmed the issue shortly after it was reported (on August 23), stating that:
“Thanks for the reports! We are aware of the issue affecting realtime analytics and working on a fix. I will update here once we confirm it’s fixed”
For those who are not aware, Realtime analytics/report gives an estimate of potential view activity for published videos. As can be seen in the following screenshot, realtime activity displays views based on both hourly basis (blue-color graph on left), as well as minute-by-minute (green-color graph on right).
Furthermore, real-time reports are also used by YouTube channel holders to see the total number of views on their channels.
Coming back to the issue, while there has been no official update regarding the matter after Google’s acknowledgement, one of the affected users reported that the problem was fixed for them. We will have to wait for an official word from Google on whether a fix has been officially rolled out or not.
It’s worth mentioning that there exist a handful of other threads on the official YouTube forum, where users have been complaining about variation between statistics of real-time analytics and view counts displayed on their channel. We are not sure whether the two issues are connected or not.
If you are also among the one’s for whom real-time reporting isn’t working properly, keep a tab here as we’ll update you as and when there’s any related development.
