UPDATE 2:

On July 9, 2017, a Google’s employee updated the Gmail users who are not able to send emails or facing ‘outbox queued’ issue that

“They just let me know that the issue should now be fixed”.

With respect to the problem still existing for a few, she further added on July 10, 2017 that

“I have informed our team that the issue is persisting for you, and will keep you posted with updates here”.

It’s clear that while the official fix has worked for many, some users are still out of luck. Let’s hope their issue gets resolved soon.

UPDATE 1:

Users encountering emails queued to Gmail’s outbox finally get to hear from Google. On June 30, 2107 Google’s employee addressed those troubled by saying

“Thanks so much to all who have provided bug reports! We’ve got enough so far, but will reach out individually if we need any additional reports. Our team is working on this issue now, and we’ll provide updates as soon as we have them”.

It is clear that the company is currently working on the issue. While an exact time-frame for its fix wasn’t revealed, we expect that to happen soon.

ORIGINAL STORY BELOW:

Earlier this month, complains of Gmail app not being able to send emails with attachments started pouring in. The issue, which is with the service’s Android client, was first reported on June 5, 2017.

A quick look at the following screenshots reveals that sending text emails using the app works fine. But outgoing emails with attachment get queued in outbox.

On June 8, 2017 Google Products Community Specialist addressed users by saying

“I’ll check with my team to see if this is a possible bug and will keep you all posted once I get an update about the same”.

On June 12, 2017 he further added that the problem was fixed by saying

“Thanks for confirming. I’m glad the issue is resolved”.

Despite claims that the bug has been fixed, a quick look into the relevant thread on official Google Product forums reveals that users are still encountering it. So, if you are facing the same issue, you might have to wait for another fix to arrive.
